Srinagar, January 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the PDP-led puppet regime has to face embarrassing situation when its member of the so-celled Assembly from Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather, blamed it for gross human rights violations “which force youth to pick up guns”.
speaking during the grants for Home Department headed by the puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Abdul Rahim Rather said that a youth, Bashir Ahmed, was forced to pick up the gun by Indian forces. He said that Bashir Ahmed was from a poor family but the forces provoked him to pick up the gun. He said that the authorities should consider giving compensation to the family of the youth.
Abdul Rahim Rather said that in connection with the 2016 mass uprising, the administration had registered cases against the educated youth of Kashmir which should be reviewed. “Even Police booked some youth without having any evidences against them. All such cases should be withdrawn,” he demanded.
Meanwhile, MLA Shopian, Muhammad Yousuf Butt, demanded of the puppet regime to reopen and reinvestigate the 2009 Shopian double rape and murder case. Speaking during the discussion on grants for Home department, Yousuf Butt, who is also Chief Whip of PDP, maintained that the case was not investigated properly and officials investigating the case succumbed to the political pressures. “The case should be reopened and there should be a judicial probe into the matter to identify the culprits,” he said on the floor of the House. Following the remarks of ruling PDP MLA, the entire opposition supported him on the constitution of a judicial panel to probe the case.
Pro-India National Conference MLA, Altaf Kaloo, said that the youth in his constituency were booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) for not succumbing to extortion by concerned Station House Officer (SHO). “A driver in my area was booked under PSA because he denied Hafta to the concerned SHO. He was not involved in stone pelting or any protest,” he said. He demanded all such cases should be reviewed and youth booked under such false cases must be released.
MLA Banihal, Waqar Rasool pointed out that some ruling party members were facilitating RSS rallies in occupied Kashmir and said that agenda of alliance (signed by PDP and BJP) was responsible for RSS expansion in the territory. He added that these rallies were aimed at terrorizing people and RSS had held rallies in Chinab Valley under political patronage.
On the other hand, the opposition National Conference (NC), CPI (M) leader, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, and independent MLA, Hakim Yasin, lodged a protest in the so-called Assembly and later staged a walkout after the puppet regime declined the demand for holding judicial probe to investigate civilian killings during 2016 mass uprising in occupied Kashmir.
